Branch Manager (Belleville, Ontario)

Location: Kingston, Ontario

We are a major Ontario Wholesale Distributor of Industrial, Commercial and Residential plumbing, heating and air conditioning equipment, and industrial pipe, valves & fittings. We are seeking an experienced BRANCH MANAGER at our Belleville, Ontario location.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Regional Manager manages day to day operations involving inside sales, estimating, and warehouse distribution functions. This position will make improvements in efficiencies in the areas of the company that directly affect customer service issues and operations.

Duties Description

  • Responsible for the security, and health and safety of employees, equipment, customers and visitors to the location.
  • Supervision of the branch in terms of efficient utilization of resources (human, equipment, systems. supplies etc.)
  • Responsible for the continued development of staff by identifying training needs and developing staff skills.
  • Responsible for cross-training of personnel to ensure critical areas are covered.
  • Supervises and initiates continuous improvement programs intended to increase effectiveness of inside sales and distribution departments.
  • Receive calls and correspondence regarding customer issues and prepare action plans to ensure the issues do not re-occur.
  • Responsible for participating, planning, communicating and implementing promotional activities eg: Counter days, special promotions, and product information seminars/training.
  • Participate in the development of recognition initiatives
  • Ensures that training and performance appraisals are complete and documentation is completed concerning training, disciplinary actions etc.
  • Responsible for compliance and enforcing established policies and procedures.
  • Liaison with the warehouse supervisor to reduce loss, and ensure efficiencies of operations.
  • Responsible for developing budget proposal for branch in areas of equipment, human resources, systems etc.
  • Recommends and suggests ideas to generate growth for the branch as well as recommends ideas to problem-solve any issues regarding the branch.
  • Responsible for meeting branch goals and performance according to financial ratios.

Qualifications

  • 3 years management experience leading a team of 20 or more employees
  • 3 years experience in the wholesale plumbing and heating trade is an asset
  • Proficiency in customer service and strong leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Computer literate

Inside Sales (1 Barrie, 1 Belleville, 1 Kingston Ontario)

Location: 1 open position in Barrie, Ontario; 1 open position in Belleville, Ontario; 1 open position in Kingston, Ontario

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Branch Manager or Regional Manager will serve the customers by phone or in person at both the service counter and through the order desk. This position requires constant follow-up and communication with purchasing, shipping, expediting and sales people to ensure the highest possible level of customer service. The focus of this position first and foremost is to ensure that we meet or exceed our customer’s expectations.

Duties Description

Actively uses selling techniques to increase sales i.e. complementary and substitution products as well as specially priced items.

  • Receives from customers by phone, fax, and mail or via sales representative, sales orders and enters all information required for order picking into the system.
  • Answers customer questions pertaining to price and product. Supply customer with relevant information. Provides alternatives and suggestions when appropriate.
  • Calls customers for additional details and/or to give them the availability of special products and/or the replacement.
  • Provides small quotes to customers using computer system as needed.
  • Transcribes all non-stock material in order for the purchasing dept. to order the material.
  • Assists when required, in all aspects of branch activities.
  • Follow-up on direct shipments from suppliers to customers to ensure billing to customer is timely.
  • Must be willing to participate in various training programs (ie. vendor training sessions. etc.)

Education

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • One year (12 months) warehouse experience, order picking
  • One year (12 months) experience related to customer service in the plumbing and heating trade.
  • Two years (24 months) minimal experience related to inside sales.

Purchaser (Belleville, Ontario)

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the assigned manager, maintains prescribed inventory levels for product groups assigned according to the methods and directives from the purchasing department.

Duties Description

  • Review and process Recommended Order Reports (ROR), Low Stock and Backorder reports and issue purchase orders to vendors through our ERP computerized system
  • Manage the procurement and distribution of products obtaining goods as planned and communicate to each location within the identified timelines
  • Provide support to all locations for other procurement processes as required (transfers and direct orders)
  • Assist with general procurement matters relating to meeting delivery schedules and solving supply problems like substitutes and alternatives
  • Expedite the delivery of open PO’s and monitor quality and performance of vendor service levels
  • Keep informed of new improved products, current market conditions and pricing, as well as identifying slow moving or discontinued products.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Education

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent, enrollment in S.C.M.A.O program is a definite asset

Experience

  • Up to 24 months in Purchasing
  • One (1) year experience in wholesale plumbing and heating
